I understand that many of you have already seen this 2010 comedy starring Jake Gyllenhall and Anne Hathaway – cut me some slack. I have two kids under the age of 10 and it costs me $10 an hour to pay a babysitter to go see a movie and when you add in the tickets, drinks, snacks and then possibly a dinner after (with no kiddo interruptions) – well we’re looking at a cost that rivals the national deficit.
Anywho – this movie fulfilled all of my romcom dreams – sexy, naked Jake, witty dialogue, a wonderful HEA and a sexy, naked Jake (hey – you know what’s most important to me – don’t act so shocked).
Naked, sexy Jake plays Jamie, a bad boy from the overly successful family, who parlays his abundant charms into pharmaceutical sales. Set against the backdrop of 1996, he lands the account-to-eclipse-all-accounts . . . Viagra.
Anne Hathaway plays Maggie, a young artist who is dealing with early onset Parkinson’s by hiding behind a sexy, cynical mask. She is wonderful and you know why Jamie falls in love with her.
The dialogue is outstanding, the premise fresh and the spin-tingling sex scenes abundant. You even get to see Jake – sexy and naked – walking around his apartment. Yum.
I can pay this movie the highest compliment – I bought it and watched it again as soon as I got home.
It’s a keeper.
