My – oh, so shallow – Thanksgiving list

This week in the United States we will be celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday by bellying up to the table, gorging ourselves on food and then passing out in front of our large screen TV’s to watch football or the first Christmas movies showing on the Lifetime Channel.  Sounds heavenly . . . .

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am wildly blessed and I am so thankful for my husband, my kid, my family. I’m one of the first ones to tear up at the commercials featuring kids coming home to surprise Mom on Turkey Day . . . hand me the hankies.   But there is a shallow side to me and that side is also thankful for a few things.

Here’s my not-so-Hallmark-commercial-worthy list:

1.  Alex O’Loughlin.  My shallow heart patters wildly every Monday night as I watch Hawaii 5-0. Just look at him . . .  there is so much to be thankful for . . .

2. My Kindle:  Books. Books. Books.  And – it reads to me – I’ve come to love that robotic voice very much.

3. Man Candy Mondays:  I love my Monday nights when I get to visit with Alex and hang with my Man Candy Maniac peeps on Twitter at 9pm. We start with a theme but it always devolves into a free-for-all.

4. My DVR:  How can you not love a device which allows you to control all of the entertainment networks?  I feel like I’m Queen of the World (move over Leo DiCaprio)when I program my remote to record.

5. Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares with Caramel:  Sure, I should take them and superglue them directly to my a** and save the middleman but they are the best thing ever!

So, that’s about all my shallow heart can conjure up right now.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones this holiday weekend!

Burn it up,

  1. That sounds like a pretty good list to me! I’d love to be in the US to celebrate a Thanksgiving — I love the idea of taking time out to be thankful for all the good things in life — whether big or small! Let’s face it — sometimes it’s the small things that really make the difference!
