Burning Music Love: A month of love songs – Missy Higgins

Happy Valentine’s Month!

I write sexy, funny, emotional romance novels and pretty significant muse for me is music.  I have over 5500 songs on my iPod (don’t tell the hubby) and I listen to music all the time.  I have an eclectic taste – I just like a catchy meody with an amazing lyric.

So, this month, I’ll be posting a love song a day and a brief explanation as to why it rings my bell.  And, at the end of the month, I’ll give away a $15 iTunes giftcard to a lucky commenter.

The first song on the playlist is “Where I Stood” by Missy Higgins.  She’s an Australian singer/songwriter and I absolutely love how she crafts a lyric. This is the most unique break-up song ever and I play it so often that my iPod automatically jumps to it when I’m not looking!

Enjoy!

Burn it up,

  1. Can you listen to songs while you write, Robin? I always find myself listening to the lyrics and not working. But sometimes i just really want music while i write, so I’ve started listening to YoYo Ma. Both his Goat Rodeo album and some of the older Silk Road Orchestra music are terrific to write to.
    Love the topic!

  2. I love love songs, Robin, what an interesting idea for a post. hmmm.

But while I write, I don’t listen to music w/lyrics. They get in my head. I listen to classical guitar and yes, I just bought five more cds to load on my nano.
